Growing up in a funeral home family, Jeff Hartquist had no aspirations to follow in his parent's footsteps. His career dream was to work in sports therapy until an encounter in a biology class changed his mind. From there it was education, business, and circling many career options, but Jeff's desire to serve others led him back to a career as a funeral director. He continued his education at the University of Minnesota for his certification. He worked in the metro area until 2004 when his dad had the opportunity to acquire some local funeral homes, which brought Jeff and his family back to Luverne. In 2012, Jeff and his wife, Sara, purchased Hartquist Funeral Home. Jeff spoke to the young professionals about the funeral merchandise vs. service business model. The position of a funeral director is in great demand right now, and Jeff feels grateful to have four full-time directors. Jeff's passion lies in compassionately serving the families and community during their time of need, encouraging the young professionals to give back in their own way. Jeff shared the quote, "To whom much is given- much is expected." Thank you for sharing your story with the SWMN CEO!
