Jeff and Missy Bass started Game Plan 4 Hope in Hills, MN after their son Trenton became paralyzed in a high school football game. Five years later, collaborating with the family of Ethan Erickson, who passed away from childhood cancer, their mission has come to build a non-profit that will walk with families during live changing events. Both families experienced situations that neither knew how to navigate in the beginning. With assistance from community members, health care professionals, friends, family and having made many connections, both families wanted to share their knowledge, skill, and compassion. One part of the 501C3 is refurbishing used medical equipment for those in need. Once Trenton was ready to come home many people volunteered power chairs and other equipment. Instead of throwing them in the landfill Jeff has used them to gift to others. Game Plan 4 Hope is also an event space that can be used for a donation. Jeff and Missy spoke about the different types of insurance needed for the different entities of the non-profit, how to "weather the storm" that you may encounter. Both Jeff and Missy mentioned Trenton's great determination and attitude through his journey. These two characteristics, they believe, is how Trenton was able to graduate high school, college and get a job as a mechanical engineer. Game Plan 4 Hope continues to grow and help many families. Thank you for sharing your story with us this morning.
